FAQs
What is MAP Testing and how is it Different from the other Tests?
Map Testing is one of the NWEA tools. It is an assessment program that tests students to find out their level of growth and progress.
The program helps teachers, families, and administrators identify the students in the order of their strengths and opportunities.
This information is given to the educators who use it as a yardstick for forming curriculums that help the children.
The MAP test is similar to the usual SAT in the aspect of the guide it gives in understanding the student’s needs and strengths but the SAT is different from the MAP test because the SAT is a usual test every student takes while the MAP test is done to the uniqueness of a student.
How Does MAP testing work?
For any other test, all students are asked the same questions and then spend a fixed time taking the test, but the MAP test is a computer-adaptive test that gives every student a unique set of questions.
The next question is usually a result of the student’s answer to the previous question asked.
This means that the questions get harder as the student gets it correctly, however, if the student gets the answer wrong then the questions get easier.
This test is done to assess the academic growth of the student and to measure their achievement at the moment.
This test is done three times in a school year and it usually takes 45 to 55 minutes to complete, it is not timed, and students can take as much time as they need.
The results of the tests are usually given to teachers, administrators, families, and then the students as it helps this category of people know their children better.
