John Crook Scholarships – APPLY NOW!

Every year, one John Crook Scholarship is given out. On the other hand, if the competition is tense, the Committee may then elect to give out two scholarships at once. However, John Crook Scholarships which are completely sponsored by the University of Cambridge offer all UK students the chance to study any course they want except Theology and Law.

Fortunately, only first-generation college students with outstanding academic records have an exceptional opportunity to spend two years studying at St John’s College at the University of Cambridge thanks to the John Crook Scholarships.

John Crook Scholarships

As a collegiate public research university, Cambridge is the world’s second-oldest university in the English speaking. In addition, it is also the third oldest surviving university in the world today. And about eight scholarships have been given out since the inaugural John Crook Scholarship was given to Elizabeth Monaghan in 2010.

The main goal of this scholarship is to make it possible for qualified students to attend Cambridge after receiving their first degree, whether due to financial constraints or other considerations.

Hence, these scholarships are available to students who are pursuing both undergraduate and master’s degrees.

Furthermore, certain scholars may have the option to enroll in a one-year MPhil program after completing their first year of study, if appropriate, and graduate after two years with an MPhil. With the aim give the recipients the full Cambridge experience over two years.

Scholarship Eligibilities

For these scholarships, candidates must meet up with the following requirements to be eligible:

Applicants must be the first generation of their family to attend university
A present or recent graduate from one of the colleges that qualify and has an extraordinary academic record.
A permanent resident in the UK or a British citizen to be eligible for the Scholarship.

Above are all the requirements one must meet to be eligible for this scholarship.

Note: You will not be eligible if you meet the other qualifying requirements but are not a citizen of the UK or a person with indefinite leave to remain in the UK.

Scholarship Restrictions

Any subjects are eligible for the scholarship, except for those that are directly related to law, theology, or business.
At St. John’s College, there is no affiliated version of the BA in architecture, medicine, or veterinary medicine.
Please be aware that John Crook Scholars must dwell in Cambridge to earn a degree, per the residence rules that apply to all Cambridge University students.
